Stone Age Dominates Albuquerque Market

Local Climbing Gym Relocates to Accommodate Growing Enthusiasts

Written by: Stephanie Chang

Stone Age Climbing gym, Albuquerque’s largest climbing gym, will soon be located just off Interstate 40.  Major renovations will completely transform the building once occupied by Spa & Billiard World.  Once completely polished, Stone Age will be New Mexico’s state of the art climbing facility.

Stone Age Climbing Gym opened its doors in 1997 and has increasingly become one of the hot spots in Albuquerque.  Men’s Health Fitness ranked Albuquerque the 3rd Fittest City in America due to its 67.5 acres of outdoor parkland.  Taking this ranking to another level, Stone Age Climbing gym has been providing over 12,000 square feet of indoor climbing walls to Albuquerque residents.  To ensure all enthusiasts have enough space to climb, Stone Age is relocating to a new location set to open January 2014.  Not only will the new space total forty-five feet in building height, the climbing wall space will also increase to 20,000 square feet.  Centrally located, just off Interstate 40, the facility on Cutler will provide high visibility and easy access for climbers.

This transaction was handled by Brett Hills and Jim Hakeem of NAI Maestas & Ward. Brett and Jim are both highly regarded Advisors in the Albuquerque community.  Brett Hills provided insight to this transaction, “Finding the ideal property for Stone Age Climbing Gym was a rewarding three year process. In the end we hit a home run at 4130 Cutler with great visibility and a central location in Albuquerque. On the seller’s side, Greg & Brenda Williams decided to take their property to market and this transaction has paved the way for their next endeavor. They are pleased to know that the new Stone Age Climbing Gym will be a beacon of activity for years to come. ”
