Blaze Pizza sets opening date for Coronado Center

Albuquerque's Uptown area is becoming quite the hub for new restaurants. And Blaze Pizza will be adding to that hub this week.
Senior Director with NAI Maestas and Ward Clayton King, who represented Blaze, said its Coronado Center location will have a soft opening Thursday and host a grand opening to the public Friday.
Blaze and The Container Store took over what used to belong to Sears, which downsized its 100,000-square-foot store at Coronado by half. King said the location offers good exposure being on the corner of Louisiana and Menaul boulevards.
Blaze Pizza and The Container Store are both finalists for Albuquerque Business First's Deals of the Year awards. The two new-to-market companies both made their New Mexico debut in Albuquerque this year.
Blaze opened its first location at 6400 Holly Ave. in July. Albuquerque Business First reported late last year the California-based pizza chain would be coming to Albuquerque in a new retail center on Holly Avenue near San Pedro and Paseo del Norte. King said the negotiations for both locations took place at the same time.
Construction is also underway at Coronado for a Seasons 52 Wine Bar & Grill, which is based in Florida. Across the street at the Winrock Shopping Center, Sauce Pizza and Wine opened this year as well.
Blaze advertises itself as an assembly-line concept, which creates a custom pizza in 180 seconds. Basketball star LeBron James is among the investors in the chain. According to Forbes, Blaze's 2017 sales are projected to be $350 million.Typical franchisors take about 5 percent in fees. The company expects to add 100 stores a year.
