Business First relocating to Class A office tower

Albuquerque Business First will move from its Downtown offices in December to a 10-story Class A office building — Two Park Square — in the Uptown corridor.
Business First signed a five-year lease for about 4,000 square feet in the complex, located at 6565 Americas Parkway NE.
Candace Beeke, who joined Business First as publisher in July, said she liked Two Park Square's amenities, including the property's security and covered parking garage for her 17 employees. The building's tenants include Moss Adams, Aflac Insurance, Morgan Stanley and New York Life Insurance.
Beeke said Business First decided earlier this spring to move, after its lease was soon to expire at its current location in the Theater Block at 116 Central Ave. SW. Business First has operated at its Downtown headquarters since 2002.
Beeke said remaining in the Downtown building was not an option. Tech company Lavu, the only other tenant in the building, is rapidly expanding. Lavurecently leased two additional office spaces in the building this year.
Beeke said Business First has enjoyed operating Downtown, but that ultimately the decision to move to Uptown was set in motion by Business First's previous publisher, Ian Anderson.
"I would encourage any business to consider Downtown, it just wasn’t the best option for us at this time," Beeke said. "[Anderson] wanted to move Business First into a growing part of town with a lot of energy and where a lot of our existing and potential clients are," she said.
Beeke declined to comment on what other buildings Business First considered.
Scott Throckmorton and Stacey Nenninger of ARGUS Investment Realty represented Two Park Square's landlord — Hines. Dave Hill with NAI Maestas & Ward represented Business First in the lease deal.
"As an office user, Uptown is hard to beat," Hill said.
A renovation is happening now and the move is expected by Dec. 21. The buildout is being overseen by architect Alberto Torres-Shanahan of Weller Architects P.C. and general contractor DPC Construction. Beck Total Office Interiors, one of Business First's fastest growing companies, spearheaded office furniture options.
Contact information such as phone numbers and emails for Business First staff remain the same.
