Calif. tile company to open showroom in ABQ

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A California-based tile and stone company has purchased 4½ acres in Albuquerque’s Renaissance area for a new 50,000-square-foot development that will feature its first New Mexico showroom and space for up to three more tenants.

Bedrosians, an independent porcelain and tile importer, distributor and manufacturer with more than 35 locations around the country, recently acquired the undeveloped land at the northwest corner of Renaissance and Alexander. There, the company will join a growing cluster of home improvement-related businesses. Home Depot is across the street, while Dreamstyle Remodeling is just up the road.

Bedrosians expects to begin construction this summer and complete the project by spring 2017, according a representative of the firm.

Jillian Knapp said the company saw potential in the New Mexico market and a chance to build upon its regional presence.

“It’s a logical expansion for us considering we’re already in the Tucson and Phoenix, Ariz. markets,” she said in an email.

The company plans a 52,455-square-foot building at the site. Its own warehouse and showroom will use about 35,000 of it.

The building also will also include about 18,000 square feet of additional suites to lease to other tenants, according to NAI Maestas & Ward’s Jim Wible and Keith Meyer, the commercial real estate brokers who represented Bedrosians in the deal.

“They have found they have great success around the country once they open (with) having window-covering companies or furniture companies or paint store-type users wanting to co-tenant with them,” Meyer said.

Lisa Allen-Urrea of Sedberry & Associates represented the seller in the purchase of the land. The price was not disclosed.
