Square Root Salon Opens With Help from NAI Maestas & Ward Advisor

On August 18, downtown Albuquerque will become home to the Square Root Salon, a new trendy full-service salon owned by David Gatt and Jason Smith. The salon, located at 800 3rd Street NW, will offer the services of six diverse stylists who were hand-picked by David and Jason based on their skills and passion for fashion. “Our broker, Rose Cabezut, demonstrated great insight regarding the type of space we were seeking and she handled the entire transaction with the utmost professionalism and care. We are two guys who love art, music and, of course, hair. We are thrilled to be opening our own salon and are eager to beautify Albuquerque in the unique setting of downtown,” said David and Jason. David Gatt has been a stylist for 21 years and Jason Smith has been a stylist for 13 years.

The Square Root Salon will be located in a 2,450 square foot space in what has been described as an “artsy, eclectic” building that once served as a warehouse located across from the court houses. Converted to retail space, the warehouse retains the original interior brick walls which created an appealing back drop for the Square Root Salon owners. “David and Jason kept the brick walls intact and utilized an industrial look while updating the space with a trendy appeal. This was an ideal space for Square Root because the architecture and ambiance of the building perfectly suited the personality of the salon owners. Being centrally located in downtown surrounded by the constant activity and with proximity to the art district was an important factor for them because of the clientele they serve,” said Rose Cabezut, CCIM, an advisor with NAI Maestas & Ward who brokered the transaction.

Other tenants in the building are AmerAsia and Sumo Sushi with the remaining available space earmarked for an art studio.

The vision of the Square Root Salon owners is to provide outside seating so that guests can enjoy the nearby restaurants, relax between salon services with a cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy the music of Jason Smith’s band on special occasions.
